3. Energy Assistance - limited funds available.
4. Rental Assistance - new structure starts next week.
a. Workshops will be held in Bend, Redmond, La Pine, Madras, and Prineville during the last week of each month. (see flyer)
i. Intakes will be accepted only at the end of each workshop.
ii. Clients must be on time to workshop in order to be considered for assistance.
b. Clients now may be able to receive two to three months of assistance when circumstances warrant.
c. Intakes of clients to be served will be drawn by lottery and all applicants will be notified whether their names were drawn or not.
5. Answer Van – (Mobile Emergency Services Office).
a. Serves La Pine 2nd and 4th Friday of each month.
b. Please contact Steve Shope to request the Answer Van for events in your area.
6. Nancy’s House Shelter
a. 5th anniversary coming up.
b. Shelter is in quiet area off of the main road.
c. Recommended stay is 3 months.
d. Shelter consists of two buildings.
i. Office building has an apartment above for night worker.
ii. Shelter has 5 private rooms with common living room, dining room, kitchen, etc.
e. Referrals

ii. Working with Bethlehem Inn.
iii. Some self-select out because of curfew, rules, etc.
f. Requirements
i. Families with children under 18 who are homeless.
ii. Application
iii. Background Check
iv. Drug/Alcohol Testing
v. Working or in Jobs program.
g. Clients purchase and prepare their own food.
i. Most have food stamps.
ii. Some food is donated to shelter.
iii. Some basic items are provided.
h. Transportation
i. Shelter provides help with bus tickets.
ii. Residents who have transportation help other residents.
7. NeighborImpact Transitional Housing Program – John Livingston – 317-1141.
a. Two year program for families with children.
b. Must be homeless or about to be evicted.
c. Must have some source of income so that they can pay a portion of their rent. (Approximately 30%)
d. Families can stay in program up to two years.
e. Goal – clients exit program with positive rental history.
f. Four Locations:
i. Bend - 20 Units in Healy Heights apartment complex.
ii. Madras – 4 Units in Madras TownHomes Complex.
iii. Prineville – 10 Units at scattered sites.
iv. Redmond – 5 Units at scattered sites. (NEW)
g. Participants are required to:
i. Take classes.
1. Landlord/Tenant Education
2. Life Skills Classes.
3. Parenting Classes.
4. Financial Fitness Classes.
5. Homebuyer Education Classes, etc.
ii. Meet with their Case Manager once a week for first 3 months to set goals and get connected with available resources, then once a month after that.
h. Units are inspected monthly to insure that they are:
i. Clean
ii. Safe
iii. Damage Free
i. Not a quick fix. Process to enter program takes at least two weeks.
i. Application
ii. Wait List – Max of 3
iii. Drug Testing – done at entry and at random.
1. If UA is positive while in program, client can stay in program and sign an alternative agreement.

1. Heather announced that the Bend/LaPine resource booklets are now available for those who ordered them.
a. Chuck said he handed out over 100 booklets yesterday.
2. They will be doing Madras/WS and Prineville/Redmond booklets in the future.

4. PROJECT HOMELESS CONNECT - October 11, 2008

ii. Dina Barker will send a letter out to potential donors next week.
iii. Attendance was low at the July 10th meeting.
iv. Heather will not be doing the survival aspect due to the situation at Bethlehem Inn.
v. TEAMS
1. Medical Team Lead - Ron Brown––
a. Working on getting providers of all skill levels on board.
b. At least two persons to a team.
c. He called Remote Area Medical and they will try to help.
d. There is a bulletin at Volunteers in Medicine where those who want to help can check in.
e. Need many Spanish/English Interpreters who will need to be medically and dentally certified. (requires short class and test)
2. Teen Services - Grandma’s House and Chuck G. will take the lead.
3. Volunteer Coordination – Jennie Hoffmann –
a. Volunteer form will be online within the week.
4. Housing – Lois Golden –
a. Adair homes is on board.
b. Madras Gospel Mission is on board.
5. Voter Registration – Janet Whitney –
a. Will speak with voter registration team from C-BAT.

5. HLC Website - Kevin
i. Current site is difficult to manage and unable to do what we want.
ii. Need to think about being a part of another website.
iii. Need to think about how to pay for it.

a. They have a letter ready to go out to elected officials for the policy group this summer.

a. Will work to form in the fall.
b. Will work closely with policy committee.
