Deschutes County Fairgrounds
www.projectconnectco.org
Project Connect was inspired by a national effort to increase access to health and human services for individuals and families dealing with homelessness and poverty. Since October 2007, services that are spread throughout Central Oregon are pulled together for the one day event at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds at the Hooker Creek Event Center in Redmond. These include medical and dental services, meals, services for children, vision services, legal aid, employment, veterinary care, credit counseling, clothing, domestic violence counseling, phone access, shelter services, haircuts, ID replacement, employment services and much more.
Project Connect occurs in the Fall, but the planning starts long before that. If you, your family, your church, or services organization is interested in getting involved, please attend a Homeless Leadership Coalition meeting or contact one of the co-chairs. The needs for this event includes: fund-raising to purchase supplies, donations of clothing, hygiene products, food and beverages. Volunteer staffing includes translators, food services, intake support, set-up, busing and transportation, and much more.
This year’s event will be on Saturday, September 19th, from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., in the South and Middle Sister Buildings, at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds in Redmond Oregon.
