Description
Opens its doors every Sunday to help feed and clothe those most in need. Provides free breakfast, lunch and dinner – along with hundreds of sack lunches and leftovers to go - to hungry and homeless seniors, men, women and children in our community. The “keep them warm” initiative collects and distributes free camping and outdoor survival equipment (e.g. tents, sleeping bags, coats, tarps, gloves, socks, etc.) to the homeless. Showers at BCC are also available at no charge Sunday’s from 9 am to 1 pm. Committed to providing for the basic needs of every member of our community.

Provides access to all WorkSource services, labor market research, free job search related workshops, free basic computer skills workshops, one-on-one career counseling, mock interviews, resume buliding, practice in job success, individual skills courses, and access to computers, printers, fax machine, and copy machine for job-related tasks. Administers on the job training and occupational skills scholarships (eligibility requirements apply).

Offers alternative high school education to allow students to make up credits and return to their regular classrooms, or to earn a state high school diploma or GED. Students may also participate in Work-Education, a work-experience program that combines classroom credits with community service and natural resource projects. Classes are held in Bend, La Pine, Redmond, Lakeview and Prineville in conjunction with the school districts of Bend-La Pine, Redmond, Crook County, and Lakeview. COIC also provides instructors for Deschutes County Juvenile Community Justice. In addition, COIC offers summer work experience, giving students the opportunity to earn minimum wages and learn valuable hands-on work skills. During the school year, students earn high school diplomas, GEDs and high school credits on behalf of their local high schools. Students spent more than 18,000 working on community service and natural resource projects.

Provides Veterans experiencing homelessness with food, clothing, sustenance items, survival gear, employment assistance, VA pensions and compensation assistance, housing support, encouragement, and support. Promotes housing stability among very low-income Veterans and their families, who are homeless, in housing crisis or at imminent risk of losing housing, through various supportive and financial services. Services include: Case Management, Eviction Prevention Assistance, Deposit, Rental and Utility Assistance, Connection to Veteran Services, Connection to Social Security Benefits, Referrals and assistance with finding services, a safe and confidential place to talk about your personal situation and get guidance.
